SC Warriors 3-0 with a 28 - 12 Victory over DH

In Saturday's match up between Snow Canyon Green and Desert Hills Gold, the clouds brought plenty of wind, but Thunder was not in the forecast.
At the toss DH chose to take the ball. Snow Canyon took advantage of the windy conditions as Austin Staheli started the game with a boomer of a kick, setting the DH squad deep in their own territory. The Warriors D, lead by Coach Scott Stover, did their job as Staheli intercepted his first of 2 putting the offense into action in good starting field position.
The Warriors scored on a 4 play drive culminating with a 25 yard sweep to Smith, running behind a very active and effective Warrior offensive line.

A Kick off to the 40 put the Thunder in decent field position, but once again the Warrior defense rained on the Desert Hills parade forcing a 3 and out. After the ensuing punt, the Warriors offense pounded the ball right at the heart of the DH D scoring again bringing the score to 14-0

A missed assignment and a little confusion due to last minute player substitutions resulted in a run back by Desert Hills #10 for a score. But the Warriors were undaunted. Coming right back with an solid drive putting the Warriors up 22-6 at half.

The Warriors fizzled on their opening drive and then allowed DH to score after a net 1 yard punt into the wind. In true Snow Canyon fashion, the Warriors were able to regroup on both sides of the ball, finally putting another score on the board.  The rest, as they say, is history.
Final score  Snow Canyon Warrior 28 - Desert Hills Thunder 12

The Warriors defense forced 4 turnovers in the game. 2 by land (fumble) and 2 by air (interception).
All could have resulted in scores, but the Warriors backed off of the throttle in the 4th quarter, choosing to take a knee on the 20 instead of adding insult to injury.

If this doesn't paint a clear picture as to what the coaches will be working on this week, I don't know what to tell you. Suffice it to say, the Warriors will maximize their opportunities by using their strengths while working diligently to improve their weakness's.

The Boys in Green will face off against their neighbors from across the border, in an always tough match up against Virgin Valley. This will be the home opener for the 8th grade Green so please let's fill the stands and make some noise. We will See you there!

Many thanks to the team Moms. We would not be able to do what we do without you. Keep up the great work!
GO WARRIORS!!!
