WARRIORS SWEEP THE PANTHERS!!

Snow Canyon Warriors execute well to decisive victories on the road against the Pine View Panther in the 8th grade.

Todd Kitchen and company win late in horrible weather 16 - 8. Brooks Sampson comes up with a pair of scores to after being sacked for a safety early on. Coach Nowatzke's D hold the Panthers until late in the 4th when Pineview finally got in the end zone.

Snow Canyon National League played the early game. Weather proved to not be a factor in the season opener for the Snow Canyon (B) team. With no working clock, the Panthers marched down the field on the opening possession to put them up 6-0 with a 7 play drive that gobbled up the entire first quarter. (You will have to do the math on that one!). Snow Canyon's Austin Staheli, in the shotgun, answered right back to tie the game as Seth Smith scored on a 20 scamper to tie the game. The Warrior Defense finally found their groove stopping the Panthers on the ensuing series, forcing a punt with zero return. Then it was the Staheli / Smith show once again. A dominating performance by the Snow Canyon Offensive line was capped off with a 28 yard bootleg by Staheli for a touchdown closing out the half, Warriors 12 - Panthers 6.
Snow Canyon having deferred the toss had first shot coming out of halftime but came out flat and were forced to punt after a 3 and out. With excellent field position, the Panthers capitalized with a 7 play drive and a run for conversion putting Pineview up 13-12 late in the 3rd. The Snow Canyon offense performed well, mixing things up a little, and were able to get into the red zone. But an untimely penalty and interception put Pineview's O was on the field once again. Coach Stover used a strategic timeout to rally the SC D forcing a Panther punt.
Keeping it on the ground, the Warriors Seth Smith slipped several would be tacklers to put the Warrior back in the lead, after a couple of key 3rd down conversions from power running back Zach Ferguson. Then IR player Dallin Bergen came in with a wrapped cast to kick the 2 point conversion needed to put the Warriors up by 7. That score would hold as the Warrior defense stopped the Panthers deep in Warrior territory with the clock winding down. The game ended in the Victory formation as Seth Smith took a knee on the final snap.
Final Score: Snow Canyon 20 - Pineview 13.
